From Lizzie McGuire to mum of a teen, Hilary Duff gives rare glimpse of son Luca
Who would have thought? Once known as the beloved teen star of Disney Channel’s Lizzie McGuire, Hilary Duff is now navigating life as the mum of a teenager.
In a recent Instagram Story, the 38 year old actress shared a rare photo of her son Luca, who is set to turn 14 next month.
Seated in the front passenger seat of her car, the teen bears a striking resemblance to his famous mum, something fans quickly noticed. Duff kept the caption brief and emotional, writing simply, “Gah,” as if quietly reflecting on how quickly time has passed.
Luca was born in March 2012 during Duff’s marriage to former professional ice hockey player Mike Comrie.
Beyond her eldest son, she is also a mum to three daughters, Banks, Mae and Townes, whom she shares with her husband, singer and music producer Matthew Koma.
The heartfelt post arrives after a milestone year for Duff as she watched Luca step into his teenage years.
Just last month, she shared a video showing him towering over her in height, a gentle reminder of how swiftly childhood moves into adolescence.

At the same time, Duff’s name resurfaced online following renewed speculation surrounding the so called “toxic mum group” drama sparked by Ashley Tisdale’s tell all essay earlier this year.
Although Tisdale did not identify anyone directly, fans speculated that Duff’s circle, including Meghan Trainor and Mandy Moore, may have been referenced, a claim later denied by Tisdale’s representatives.
Duff herself has remained publicly silent on the matter. However, her husband Matthew Koma stepped in on social media, defending her while playfully parodying the controversy.
Adding another emotional layer to recent headlines, Duff also drew attention with her new track We Don’t Talk, which many fans believe hints at a strained relationship with her sister Haylie Duff. While she has not confirmed the song’s inspiration, its deeply personal lyrics have fuelled speculation about a possible family rift.
Beyond the drama and headlines, Duff’s quiet post about Luca offers a softer glimpse into her life. Even under public scrutiny, moments of motherhood and watching a child grow up remain at the heart of her story.
